Volunteer for Dinner with Docs 2026

Posted On August 21, 2026

We would like to invite family physicians you to participate in Dinner with Docs, our annual evening connecting family physicians with UBC and SFU medical students through informal, small group discussions. We have five events in different cities this year: Victoria, Prince George, Vancouver, Kelowna, and Surrey.

Why Should You Participate?

Students describe Dinner with Docs as a valuable and inspiring experience and many of them discover new information about the scope, breadth, and flexibility of family medicine that shapes their career decisions. Your expertise and journey as a family physician can influence the next generation choosing to offer comprehensive, patient-centered care.

What the Evening Entails

After a brief welcome from a BCCFP Representative, you'll share your practice experience and family medicine journey with small groups of 6-9 students. Conversation can flow based on the students' interests, covering topics like patient populations, rural family medicine, special practice areas, work-life balance, and the benefits of family medicine.

The meeting format is flexible and tailored to your experience. You'll spend 15-20 minutes with each group before rotating to connect with new students throughout the evening and dinner will be provided.
