Apply now: BCCFP Cultural Safety and Humility Grants

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the strength and dignity of survivors and intergenerational survivors of Indian Residential Schools and remember the children who never came home. It is a chance to engage in learning the historical impacts of colonialism and how they continue to impact Indigenous peoples today.

The BCCFP Cultural Safety and Humility grants program provides meaningful opportunity for family physicians to engage in the work of embedding cultural safety and humility into their practice and to engage with their local Indigenous communities.

We are honoured to be able to provide funding for projects across BC. The 2026-2027 cycle will have a total of $120,000 in funding available, with a maximum of $15,000 per project.

What We're Looking For

Funding will be awarded to BCCFP members in good standing for initiatives that:

• Build and strengthen relationships between family physicians and Indigenous people and communities
• Integrate CS&H principles into family practice settings and primary care networks
• Develop or adapt tools and resources that improve care for Indigenous patients
• Sustain networks or communities of practice that centre CS&H in primary care
• Elevate family physician voices in advocacy for culturally safe health care

Things to Consider When Applying

Before submitting your application, we encourage you to reflect on the following:

• Scope and timeline: Is your project feasible to complete within the 9-month project period?
• Project management: Do you have capacity for the administrative and coordination work your project will require? If not, consider building these supports into your budget.
• Community relationships: Do you have established relationships with your local Indigenous community, or will you need to dedicate time and resources to building these connections as part of your project?
• Existing partnerships: Are there local health authorities or divisions of family practice you can engage as partners or co-funders?

Application Requirements

Applicants must be a BCCFP member in good standing and submit a completed application by November 4, 2026.
