Your Feedback Is Driving Real Change On Admin Burden
Posted On September 10, 2025Thank you to all of you who took the time to complete our recent survey on administrative burden. Your collective voice was clear: reducing unnecessary admin burden remains one of the most pressing issues for you.
We hear you – and we’re taking action.
Sick notes: We carried your feedback into consultations with government on sick notes, by strongly advocating for the elimination of sick notes for short-term absences under five days. This recommendation aims to reduce unnecessary administrative burden on family physicians, support public health measures, promote health equity, and ensure responsible human resource practices across the province.
Extended leave forms: We met once again with the Ministry of Labour on the proposed extended sick leave legislation to ensure family physicians do not become the sole gatekeepers of this leave being granted.
We should have an update on both of these policies when the government resumes sitting in October.
Insurance and disability forms: You told us these were among the biggest drains on your time. In response, we’ve met with the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) to push for solutions. We’re pleased to share that life and health insurers are currently working to simplify the disability claims process by introducing one harmonized medical form. We expect to provide you with further details on this progress in the coming weeks.
Your voices are shaping our advocacy, and we will continue to ensure that reducing administrative burden stays front and centre in our work.
