Addressing the Shortage of Vital Rural Family Physicians

In rural communities, family physicians are the cornerstone of care, delivering not only primary care, but also emergency, anesthesiology, surgical, and maternity services to meet the full spectrum of their communities' health needs. Chronic understaffing in rural communities is leading to high levels of burnout and retirement among family physicians, and the subsequent closure of essential services including Emergency Rooms.
