Ripples of Impact: Our 2024-2025 Annual Report

Posted On November 6, 2025

As we reflect on the past year, we're excited to share how your membership and engagement have created powerful ripples of impact across BC's family medicine landscape.

In August 2024, we set three clear priorities for 2025-28: Bold Advocacy, Focused Support, and Strategic Partnerships. We’re proud to demonstrate how these commitments are already delivering meaningful results for you and your patients.

This year's annual report features a new interactive and impact-driven format that brings our achievements to life through dynamic visuals and clear metrics.

We’ve listed some highlights below and invite you to explore the report in full.

Sick Notes Eliminated

In April 2025, we celebrated a significant advocacy milestone: the provincial government eliminated employer-mandated sick notes for short-duration illnesses. This policy change directly addresses one of your biggest challenges - reducing administrative burden.

Advocacy Day Strengthens Impact

In May, we brought your concerns directly to the BC Legislature, meeting with over 40 MLAs and government leaders. The impact? These conversations helped secure prioritization of family medicine in the 2026 provincial budget and opened doors for ongoing policy consultations on issues like long-term sick leave and its implications for family physicians and patients.

Supporting Culturally Safe Care

Through our Cultural Safety & Humility Grants Program, we supported eight initiatives this year with a total of $65000 in funding - strengthening relationships between family physicians and Indigenous communities across BC. As we continue our reconciliation journey, these grants empower members to embed cultural safety in their practices and foster more inclusive, culturally-informed care.

Patient and Peer Recognition: Over 700 Award Nominations

The 2025 Annual Awards Program received over 700 nominations - a powerful testament to the deep appreciation your patients and peers have for you. Nominations told stories of gratitude, compassion, advocacy, education, and unwavering commitment that remind us why family medicine matters.

Thank You for Your Valued Membership

As a member-led organization funded almost entirely by member dues, your support makes our work possible. It allows us to advocate freely, and focus entirely on your needs and experiences as family physicians in BC. Most importantly, thank you for continuing to provide vital care for your patients and communities.

These are just brief highlights - there's so much more to celebrate in the full annual report!
