Supporting the next generation of family physicians through financial recognition


BCCFP offers financial awards to residents in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program. There are two categories for the Residents Awards, with awards of $1500 available to five Residents.

Resident Awards

BCCFP R2 Resident Award

Recognizing graduating residents who exemplify family medicine values, this financial award recognizes R2 residents graduating from the UBC Family Practice Residency Program who demonstrate exceptional commitment to family medicine.

Nomination Criteria

  • Equitable and compassionate care
    • Practises kindness, thoughtfulness and good communication with peers and patients
    • Shows an interest in serving diverse populations with an equity-lens
  • Community engagement
    • Is involved in community initiatives
    • Addresses community needs as part of their work
  • Leadership
    • Influences change, whether through direct action or by the way in which they conduct themselves each day
    • Leads by example through their work and interprofessional relationships
    • Is passionate about advocating for the value of family medicine
  • Professionalism
    • Has a commitment to learning

Please note that nominees must be a BCCFP member and nominations must include at least one supporting letter (maximum of 2). Self-nominations are permitted for this award.

Dr. Manoo and Jean Gurjar Award

Supporting residents committed to comprehensive, relationship-based family medicine, this financial award recognizes resident physicians in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program who demonstrate appreciation for family medicine and commitment to serving diverse populations.

Nomination Criteria

  • Equitable and compassionate care
    • Practises kindness, thoughtfulness and good communication with peers and patients
    • Shows an interest in social justice and serving diverse populations
  • Community engagement
    • Is involved in community initiatives
    • Addresses community needs as part of their work
  • Leadership
    • Influences change, whether through direct action or by the way in which they conduct themselves each day
    • Leads by example through their work and interprofessional relationships
    • Is passionate about advocating for the value of family medicin
  • Professionalism
    • Has a commitment to learning
