2026 First Five Years of Practice Award Recipients

Congratulations to Drs. Mannan Wang and Jacqueline Erickson! Two early-career physicians showing what it means to lead with purpose, compassion, and commitment to their communities.

This year's urban recipient, Dr. Mannan Wang, is based in New Westminster, where he provides longitudinal family practice and obstetric care while advocating for equitable maternity care and improved primary care access.

And Dr. Jacqueline Erickson our rural recipient based in Campbell River, where she provides low-barrier primary care and addiction medicine services to people facing significant psychosocial barriers.

This annual award celebrates the outstanding contributions of two early-career family physicians. One award honours a family physician practicing in a rural community, while the other recognizes a family physician practising in an urban setting.

Nomination Criteria

  • Equitable and Compassionate Care
    • Practises in comprehensive longitudinal family practice or works in an area that supports and values comprehensive, longitudinal family practice
  • Community Engagement
    • Is involved in community including volunteerism, activism, advocacy
    • Actively demonstrate the value of physician wellness
  • Leadership
    • Spearheads projects/initiatives/research
    • Committee membership, at a local, provincial or national level
  • Professionalism
    • Has a commitment to learning
    • Is involved in mentorship or teaching
    • Engaged with research or quality improvement

Please note that nominees must be a BCCFP member and have a minimum of 2 nominations (maximum of 3). Self-nominations will not be considered. BCCFP Board Directors are not eligible.
