As a member-led organization representing over 8,000 family physicians, residents, and medical students, the BC College of Family Physicians exists to empower, connect, and advocate for you at every stage of your career. Today, we invite you to champion your fellow residents by joining our Board of Directors as R1 Representative.
Our Board of Directors is seeking a passionate R1 resident to represent the vital perspectives of Family Medicine Residents across British Columbia. As the future of family medicine in the province, your voice is essential in shaping policy and advocacy decisions that will impact patient care and physician wellbeing.
We're seeking an R1 resident who is
- Passionate about the value of family medicine
- Able to bring clear resident perspectives to BCCFP policy and advocacy decision making
- Comfortable serving as liaison between residents and the BCCFP
- Interested or experienced in organizational leadership

Your commitment
- A 2-year term (September 2026 through June 2028) with 4 in-person Vancouver meetings per year (6–7 hours on Saturdays), plus 1–2 possible virtual meetings
- Serving as communications liaison between the UBC Residency program and BCCFP to collaborate and align initiatives
Interested applicants should first connect with their site director to ensure they have the time and support to participate in this role, and to explore how they might be included in relevant meetings or communications to effectively represent the resident voice.
