Survey for Doctors and Nurse Practitioners
Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is evaluating the EI Family Caregiver and Compassionate Care Benefits and is seeking input from physicians and nurse practitioners.
The survey takes 10-15 minutes and focuses on the medical certificate requirement that providers must complete when a patient is critically ill, injured, or in need of end-of-life care, a necessary step for caregivers applying for EI benefits.
Participation is voluntary and the survey is open June to October 2026.

Build critical communication, team leadership, and transport medicine skills alongside experienced rural and specialist clinicians, and join a network of peers working to improve care in their regions. Funding for travel and accommodation is available to a limited number of participants.

CME Accredited free online Courses for Family Doctors - Treating your patients with Spinal Cord Injury

Created by expert physiatrists and backed by evidence, the Spinal Cord Injury Research Evidence (SCIRE) team partnered with SCI-BC and the UBC Department Family of Practice to create four 1-hour courses that give you the info you need on Bladder Management, Skin Health, Blood Pressure Irregularities, and Cardiovascular Health in people with SCI.
Online and presented in short video form, you can earn your CME credits (MainPro+ 1.0 for each 1-hour course) at your own pace and schedule for free.
Pharmacotherapy for Obesity Management: Accredited Course

This is a self-paced, accredited online program ($149) that walks clinicians through the latest Obesity Canada guidelines on pharmacologic treatments for adult obesity. Across multiple modules, participants learn how to apply evidence-based decision-making to initiate and adjust pharmacotherapy based on individual patient needs.
The program is worth up to 4 Mainpro+ credits for family physicians, 4 Section 3 Self-Assessment hours for Royal College specialists, and 4 continuing education hours for all other health professionals.
Online Course: Down Syndrome for Medical Professionals

Individuals with Down syndrome have a higher risk of many different health issues throughout life. This online, self-paced course provides an overview of medical care for people with Down syndrome throughout the lifespan, beginning with diagnosis. This course delivers expertise from some of North America's leading Down syndrome specialists including Dr. Marilyn Bull, Dr. Peter Bulova, Dr. Jonathan Santoro, Dr. Eileen Quinn, Dr. Elizabeth Head, Dr. Brian Chicoine, Dr. Brian Skotko, and Dr. Aven Poynter, along with the professional team of the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation (Burnaby, BC).
This activity has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 2 Mainpro+ credits.
Addressing Online Health Misinformation online module

The course covers how misinformation is created and spread, how to evaluate the credibility of health information, and practical strategies for addressing misinformation with patients and communities. No prerequisites required.
Virtual Care Directory & Chronic Illness Care Navigation Hub

The Woods Counselling Co. has created two free, non-commercial online tools to support patients living with chronic pain and complex chronic illness, including POTS, MCAS, ME/CFS, and Long COVID. The Virtual Care Directory for Chronic Pain & Illness in Canada helps patients find virtual care providers experienced with these conditions, while the Chronic Illness Care Navigation Hub offers plain-language guidance for patients and families navigating these often-overlapping conditions.
Both resources are web-based, free to use, and available anytime, no login or cost required. They're designed to support family physicians as referral and navigation tools for complex chronic conditions.
