The BCCFP continues to sit on numerous committees and be part of important initiatives in order to ensure that the role of the family physician is well understood and widely valued. Championing quality health care for all people in BC is a high priority.

BC Conversation on Health

BCCFP representatives were asked to attend open forums across BC to identify and raise the concern of real issues facing family physicians today. These public forums will continue till Fall 2007. Website

BC Primary Health Care Charter

This Charter outlines primary health care problems, identifies priorities and establishes outcome measures to set the strategic direction of the BC Ministry of Health with the regional health authorities. The BCCFP had an opportunity to respond and submitted a report with a critique for the draft document. Many of the BCCFP suggestions were incorporated into the document. Website

• Provincial Revalidation Committee with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC

• Centre for Research in Mental Health & Addiction – reviewing support material and contributing feedback. Website

• BC Immunization Committees – contributing to the BCCDC Policy Committee and the BC Ministry of Health Immunization Strategic Framework. Website

• Advisory Committee for Revision of “Toddler’s First Steps” - publication to assist parents and caregivers of children 6 months to 3 years in understanding what contributes to healthy growth and development. Website

• Advisory Committee, BC Health Guide - providing reliable health information and advice to the public. 

• BC Healthy Child Alliance - bringing focus on prevention, health promotion and the early years. Website

• Public Health Practice in Chronic Disease Prevention and Control National Advisory Committee

• Review Committee of the BC Cancer Agency for Cervical Cancer Education Materials Website
